Can you suggest a converter and gear combo for max performance out of a Stock 97 LT1 Firebird intended for drag race use only? It's not street driven. I'm looking to set the trans and chassis up as if it would run in NHRA Stock.

Dan

Dan,

We build a very light TH350 especially for stock eliminator. 2.75 low ratio, aluminum drums, all rollerized, manual valve body, etc. This unit is custom built per application.

We run a 400turbo in our Camaro and I was told that you should not do a burnout in low gear. Is that true?

Ross,

Yes I will go along with this. 1: There's really no reason to start the burnout in first as there is no wheel speed. 2: If we start the burnout in second, we don't shock the sprag, which can be a weak link in the 400. Ross, start the burnout in second, shift up to third, and when the tires start to hook, lift and your burnout is complete.
