Mike,
Can you tell
me what would cause my TH350 to stay in 1st
gear for about 500 to 600 rpm's after I shift
into 2nd gear? Once it actually shifts it shifts
hard, just stays in first for some reason. High
gear shifts as soon as I hit the shifter.
Thanks,
MalibuMan

Malibu Man,
There are a few possibilities that we can
check out on your 350 set up. First you really didn’t
give us as much info about your transmission . Does it have
a manual valve body or trans. Brake? I am guessing that
it is a modulated unit or a street strip unit as we call
them. On this type of unit there are quite a few things
that can affect shift timing.

A. Modulator vacuum or lack of it.
B. Possibly a sticky 1-2 shift valve.
C. Miss aligned manual valve causing the circuit
to not fill quickly enough.
D. Possible damaged intermediate clutches
causing slipping.
E. 350’s are hard on stock style intermediate
sprags, you may have a damaged sprag.
There are quite a few possibilities!
Thanks,
Mike
