Mike,

I run a th350 in a mud skimmer. I have a trans brake in it and when I tore it down this year I blackened the direct clutches and all the rest looked like new. I am going to cut the drum about .170 to get an extra clutch and steel in it and put kolene steels and clutches. Do you think this will work or is there some thing I should do to the pump.

Thanks, Laurel

Laurel,

350 transmissions, like many other form of transmission. The extra clutches in high gear and the kolene steel would be a good idea. But when you rev it up in low gear and the direct clutch tries to apply, that is the real problem. Modifications are required to keep the direct clutches from dragging and burning at high RPM in first gear. This is a common problem on three speed units.
