Yeah, that was a close one

Thank the gods of your choosing that you, Bret, and your important people are OK after the New Years twister. I'll fuss at you enough about the sport in 2011; right now, I'm just glad you're OK.

Nostalgia racers unite!

Just an idea from me for nostalgia racers. You guys are the true drag racers of drag racing, bar none, period. You have the best shows. Drag racing the way it was and should be. I see no hot rods around. Keep messing with nostalgia racers.

Well, maybe it’s time you racers get to talking with each other and spread the word out. Let’s start our own association. You guys can do it. There is so many of you all across the country and here in California alone. There are still places where you guys can buy some land to build a drag strip. I know it’s not easy, but if all the racers contribute it can become a reality.
Same thing around the country when there was talk of a new drag city in Banning, CA. Me and a lot of buddies went bananas finally, a place where we can go on Saturday days or nights. The guys that were gonna set the rules for Top Fuel and funny cars, altereds on down the line, so on and so on.

This was gonna be top notch, a racer’s dream with the top name guys running it. You guys know who you are. But it never happened. How sad. Somebody had to get their fingers in there and never heard anything more of it.

Another thing, to these guys building nostalgia cars: what good is it if you can’t race ‘em? You guys need to get together with the nostalgia racers and start something going so you can race your neat looking top fuelers. The big show fuelers have nothing like yours, period. Cacklefest is not for you racers. You need to race.

Like they say “Si se puede. You can do it." In numbers it can be done. Nostalgia is big and they know that’s why you guys need to get together. You guys can build a drag strip and we will all come ‘cause we won’t have to mortgage our homes to see racing. You all know it’s true. The idea has been with me for a long time. Like Burk would say, just thinking an oldie but goodie from the old Santana drags, Lions, San Gabriel, Fontana, Drag City, The Pond, Irwindale, and fabulous Bakersfield.

Well I hope something good will happen for you guys in the future. Long live nostalgia forever. And the 32-car fields. RIIIIINNNNGGGG!

Oh man, it’s time to get up. What a dream! If it would only come true.  Wow. Oh, hey Joe!
