Being treated well is worth the drive

Jeff, I like your line of thinking: NHRA is acting like our government, overspending and passing the costs on to the racers. I moved here to race at Gainesville, 35 miles away, but they are more concerned about new construction and public image than the racers.

If I race again, I'll drive the extra miles to South Georgia.

Pro Mods are the future of drag racing

Mr. Burk, I couldn't agree with you more regarding Pro Mods vs. Pro Stock.  Pro Stock has become boring with the look-alike cars, etc. Pro Mods are THE future of the sport for bringing in fans - great cars, great racing, fun to watch, just like the funny cars of the '70s (why do you think the Nostalgia cars are so big now?).

The NHRA needs to wake up, DROP Pro Stock on their ESPN2 show, and add and promote Pro Mod. Giving them their own measly half-hour show A WEEK LATER (!) is just ridiculous. What were they thinking?

Just a fan,

Make the events special again

First: Congrats to my neighbor, Vic Miller, who distinguished himself recreating Veney's Vega. Many of us have followed this for the past year. Vic asked smart people for help and handled this like a true hot-rodder.

Second: Public perception problems, financial problems, waste-of-vacation-days problems... all could be solved with a return to the Big Four National Events: Winters in So. Cal, Springs in the Midwest, Summers on the East Coast, and Indy on Labor Day week. The rest of the calendar can revert to two-day shows. It might even start looking like a sport again...
