Just testing at Cordova?

Burk, about your Cordova gripes on none of the fuel cars making a full pass, they run nationally on 1000-ft tracks, not 1320. They are NOT there to be a crowd pleaser, but to be paid to test and tune. They are not aware of the hundred thousand eyeballs, except when leaving the pit space.
Nice to see the huge attendance.

But with small turnout, how many more will there be?

I won’t debate that NHRA cars are a big draw at Cordova’s World Series, but let’s get the promoters’ perspective on the 57th running of that race. That’s right, 56 previous meetings of fans talking to friends, saving the weekend before Indy for their weekend of nitro, year after year.

Now Nostalgiafest, what, first annual? Before we bury it, can we give it a couple years? Let’s pull the receipts from 1965 and check the spectator count.

Rome wasn’t built in a day (I know it’s corny, but it’s early).

Update on the kids

In Jim Baker’s story he mentions a couple of names from the So Cal racing scene: Bill Thomas and Bernie Partridge. Just want to let you know that both families are still in racing. Bill Thomas Jr (motor guy) and Billy Thomas (lll) (car chief) are both working for the Vision Airlines NASCAR team. John (Bernie & PJ's #3) announced at Irwindale Speedway drag strip and oval (2000-2007), Andy (John's #4 ) is car chief on a NASCAR Super Truck team and crew member on Eshleman Racing’s NASCAR Super Late Model team with Ryan (John's #3) who has been setting records all year driving the NASCAR Super Truck to ten consecutive wins and the NASCAR Super Late Model to a new Irwindale track record with his Bill Moropulos powered Chevy. Thomas or Partridge’s cars have set fast time at every NASCAR race this year at Toyota Speedway@ Irwindale. Partridge and Thomas' cars have 11 wins each as the season winds down.

Cheers.

John Partridge
