One is enough for Indy

Good reasons Indy shouldn't have a second event:

Indy is a saturated sports market with two big circle races, basketball, and football.

The traditional US Nationals still has some cachet that the U-Name-It Nationals at Indianapolis would torpedo.

The Labor Day event already has four good days. A second event would make it at least six days of tix to sell.

Las Vegas (including the 750K head of fresh meat who pass through town every week) and Pomona are much larger markets. Charlotte is a direct reflection of Bruton's natural instinct to expand his operation.

An obstructed view

Burk - To your "Just Wondering… Why Chevrolet (as a far as I know) still hasn’t a single 2011-12 factory Camaro in the NHRA Stock or Super Stock classes -- especially since both Ford and Mopar are getting so much media attention from their programs."

No surprise, since they are trotting out the IMPALA (Ooohhh...) to run vs. the Mustang and Challenger in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. I guess you can't see the marketing landscape too well when your head is firmly planted up your a**.

Glorified bracket racing?

Regarding Burk's Blast, I have long been a fan of NHRA Stock and Super Stock class racing. I have been watching the NHRA Nationals results for these classes for years. I have often noticed, especially for the Stock Eliminator, that top qualifiers are knocked out in the first round by lower qualifiers (sometimes I suspect they qualify low in the field on purpose) who are very skilled bracket racers that go on for many more rounds or even win the event.

Although there is nothing wrong with that, from a spectator point of view you wonder if you are watching NHRA class racing or glorified bracket racing. From a spectator’s point of view, I think the Stock/Super Stock class racing, at least at the NHRA National event level, would be far more fun and interesting to watch if they had handicap starts per class index with no breakouts, like the Comp classes.
