Just Wondering why some things never change

Just Wondering… Why does the NHRA still allow active racers or people who can benefit financially or on a competition level to serve on rules committees or steering committees that vet or make rules?

Just Wondering… I know this will anger some readers, but in order to actually make the Stock and Super Stock classes relevant and interesting to younger fans, why not limit participation in the classes to cars no more than fifteen years old? It would make those classes more identifiable with younger fans and Detroit manufacturers.

Just Wondering… Why not require Stock and Super Stock cars over fifteen years old to move into the Comp Eliminator gas or altered classes? It wouldn't take much to convert a lot of them into an altered or gasser  I’d bet we’d have full fields in Comp Eliminator then and in most case wouldn’t automatically force racers to quit racing.

Just Wondering… Instead of NHRA tech committees pursuing the futile task of making rules that deliver the all important “level playing field” for the different TAD and TAF combinations, why not make it simple? Here's my suggestion: Supercharged engines must burn alcohol, injected cars must burn nitro, and either engine legal in both classes. Max cubic inches for either is 525 ci. All safety rules still apply.

Just Wondering… Why couldn’t the NHRA institute a minimum entry rule for professional classes? Something like sixteen car fields requiring at least sixteen entries while ffiteen or fewer means an eight car field. If a pro class doesn’t have enough cars for a sixteen car field, pay the nine and down qualifiers gas money and award them qualifying points. If the NHRA is going to have more “live” racing then fewer cars in a class helps, plus it could make qualifying much more meaningful and entertaining. Not to mention move the show along.  .

Just Wondering… Speaking of rules, why allow Pro Stock body styles of Detroit brands that are no longer  manufactured? What if Pontiac wins the Manufacturer's Cup?

Just Wondering… Why Chevrolet (as a far as I know) still hasn’t a single 2011-12 factory Camaro in the NHRA Stock or Super Stock classes -- especially since both Ford and Mopar are getting so much media attention from their programs.

Just Wondering… How crazy is it when some racers can build a AA/FC nitro car for less money and race for bigger purses than the TAFC racers get in LODRS events?

Just Wondering… Are Roger Burgess and Sheikh Khalid Al-Thani in some kind of macho competition to see who can own the most Pro Mod, nitro and Jr Dragster teams? Those two gentlemen are literally keeping Pro Mod healthy in the NHRA and ADRL respectively. Let’s hope drag racing keeps those two racing philanthropists interested for a long time.
