This is all just a small description of what could be found on a typical weekend, non-race night on Rushford Avenue in Whittier, California. It wasn’t so much debauchery, as it was simply the humor and the hospitality these great people offered and that so many of us were willing to partake in. You just wanted to be around, because you simply didn’t know what would happen next! You didn’t know who was going to pop in, and when they did, you were fortunate to meet and get to know some of the great names and personalities in Drag Racing.

Another memorable event was the 4th of July 1976, when the Condits would do their annual takeover of El Dorado Park in Long Beach. Unfortunately, I do believe that was the last year that they were allowed in El Dorado Park in Long Beach!

That year the party got so wild that we were asked nicely to leave by park officials. With everyone still pretty festive, the closest place to go was Dave and Sandy’s house in Lakewood, and where one of the more hilarious characters to come out of the Condit clan, a person some of you may know as “Honda Doug” Woiwod had brought a treasure trove of the best fireworks that money could buy. It was an “over-loaded arsenal” which could best be described as being similar to what was used in the Battle for Baghdad!
