DRO FUNNY CAR CHALLENGE

For over fifty years the World Series of Drag Racing has been the race that makes The Reputation. Big Daddy Don Garlits pretty much spawned his coast-to-coast match racing career at Cordova and the World Series. What else do ya need to know? This year, the 2011 DRO Funny Car Challenge Series will crown its points champ at the World Series. And in doing so, whoever wins it all will join the Who's Who list that all past World Series champs are on. Don't think it isn't a big deal to all who are entered - it is. Max effort, all hands on deck, and let the burnt pistons fall where they may! It's time to get down, so let's do it!

Paul Romine Has the stats, got the talent in the pits, got the killah tune up. The Man, until proven otherwise. 8 to 5
John Hale Gotta beat The Man to be The Man. Romine remains the thorn in Texas Boss' side. 5 to 2
Doc Halladay OG from match-race heyday can do. Doc won the last DRO race at Cordova this year. Car will thunder if it ever goes straight down the track. Doc runs tall “Big Show”  tires which helps on slick track  Nitro helper Jerry Newman is master of the dew, if it comes down to that 3 to 1
Mike Savage Defending event champ has a solid 5-sec combination. Win would be no surprise and would make long ride back west easier to take 7 to 2
Anthony Bronge Hardcore racer very hungry for a win, any win. Ran personal best last time out at Byron. Another car Newman tunes., World Series score would make it all worthwhile 4 to 1
Troy Martin Runner-up at first Cordova DRO race this year. Chi-Town guy would rock the Cordova stands with win. Crowd fave, but others look better in this spot. 5 to 1
Kriss Krabill If Turner's rig shows, it's an instant contender. Krabill has shown he can win, regardless of spot on map. 5 to 1
Joe Haas Quality unit with a tough-minded shoe could spell upset special. Only 392 combo in the FC ranks. Would be a surprise, but don't count out. 7 to 1
Mike Lewis Stardust 'Cuda one of the best out there. Been plagued with breakage in 2011, must avoid ills at Cordova. 8 to 1
Ronny Young Blue Max pedigree not to be dismissed. Dale Emery tuning. Only knock is team's lack of laps, versus others in here. 12 to 1
Randy Baker Sin City bunch been making strides of late. Will take their best yet to factor in tough World Series field. Lack or spares hurts chances. 14 to 1
Brian Stewart Showtime Vette been plagued by breakage, new team break-in process. Long shot, but not impossible. 15 to 1
Troy Ray Not much info on this one. Looks like an outsider, but we will know more once there's fire in the pipes. 20 to 1
The field 10 to 1
