Burkster, I think you are missing the point with the IHRA “Champions”. It is not about the fuel guys racing for a championship, it is about having an alternative show for smaller venues to keep track operators healthy so sportsman racers can have a place to race. They can’t book the NHRA guys in for a match race anymore because of the testing rules. When the big show boys want to test, they want to test on a track they compete at, not a track like RMR at 4200’.

I have raced at three Nitrotainment events and hated the first two and enjoyed the last one. Why? Well, the IHRA let the local track management run the last one. They did a much better job of making the racing enjoyable for the local guys, while accommodating the traveling pros than the IHRA did at the first two events.

But back to the point, when I pulled out of the pits to head home (not even wanting to stay around and see the ‘Tainment) the parking lot was overflowing with cars. People were even parking a mile down the frontage road. I was happy that the local track owner was apparently having a good night. Hopefully that will help pay the bills for the Friday night races when there are about 40 people in the stands. My buds that stayed around to watch the first round said that everyone in the stands loved the show. Entertainment pays for the bracket racing. Without the entertainment I fear the Reaper might be just around the corner.

The sobering fact I take away from this season is that the Midnight drags seem to be way more profitable for the local operator than us Summit bracket racers. Here’s to Nitrotainment.

Hey, if Detroit can afford it…

Just saying, I went to the Detroit Lions game Sunday... $35 parking, $110 per seat, $8.50 per Labatts draft, $6 a hot dog. Place was packed.
I agree the smack between the Bike racers was weak. Nice to see Kurt get the win. Hey Del. good luck... lol.
