Happy birthday, you’re fired

Hate to see NHRA pro drivers terminated on their birthdays like Jeff Arend was. November 27 is also my wife's BD. They keep good company, just check Famous Birthday's.com for your favorite idol.

A small but dedicated group

Following up on my comments last time about NHRA being a boutique sport, Rasmussen reports survey shows that auto racing garners less than 5% of votes for adults favorite sport, It goes as follows

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of sports fans finds that 53% say football is their favorite sport to follow. Baseball comes in a distant second with 16% support, while basketball is the favorite of 11%. Six percent (6%) of Americans prefer hockey, with no other sport including soccer, auto racing, golf and tennis reaching five percent (5%). Be happy that at least we have TV shows.

Just wanted to comment on one thing. Re: Antron Brown, Mike Edwards and others who mention God in the winner’s circle. Doesn’t make any difference if you believe in God or not; the idea is freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Those two things are part of what makes our country great. Without 'em, we're going down a road you don't wanna go down. If those two rights are taken away, what's next?

I'm a Christian and I don't believe in shoving my beliefs down anyone’s throat, but I do believe in the right to express my views. My two cents, OK?

GM gets an idea from Down Under

Burkster, I was looking at your NASCAR story, and I thought you might like to know - The Chevrolet SS isn't a Chevrolet.  It's a rebranded Pontiac G 8 from Australia.  The boys in Detroit can't build that good of a car.  The G 8 is the best GM car I've ever owned, and at 71, I've owned plenty of them!
