Yes, it was

Was that Larry Sutton on the starting line at Vegas? Was he the official starter? Great to see him again. One of the best starters around.

Wish you could have been there, Danny

Jeff, I just wanted to say "Thank You" for dedicating the DRO race at Las Vegas to me. Nothing as special as that has ever happened to me before. Thank you ever so much.

Coming soon

I think your F/C coverage from Vegas was very good. Were any other classes racing there?

Yes. Darr Hawthorne will have the rest of the story later this week. Our weekend coverage focused on our own race.

Use some common sense

Confusion? Pros and cons of race track length.

660 ft:  ALL drag strips can do this, and the races are all treated to a prepared track surface that is half the effort needed than 1320.

1000 ft:  Same as above but the track is well prepared for the fuel cars and the cars that run the traditional 1320 alike. Seems some of the Pro Stock, and fast Comp Eliminator and Blown Alcohol cars have trouble getting the bite to E.T. and stop after the 1000 ft, so standardization of the length and the apparent built in safety feature of the extra stopping distance and the traction for the entire racing surface length, and the fact that EVERYONE gets to race on the same prepared racing surface is a BONUS. There will be an end to the confusion and all of the records in the sportsman and some pro classes would have to be reset, but SO WHAT. This is a common sense, cost effective, easy way to get drag racing back to where it once was and should be again.

1320 ft: Ahh, the old school quarter mile that was started when the fastest cars went 150 mph. Bump ahead 50 years and these cars are now going 340-350 mph. Stopping these missiles on the short tracks is going to be a real problem, NOW and in the future.

There it is folks and it all makes sense and let’s get back to some real fair competition that the people in the stands and sitting in front of the big screen can easily understand, and that my friends is what this sport is LACKING NOW. Just an opinion, but a valid one.
