Notes scribbled on my napkin from Rigo’s Tacos  on North Las Vegas Blvd: Best and cheapest food in North Las Vegas after Midnight

The NHRA Heritage/DRO Mickey Thompson Tires AA/FC race at Las Vegas was historic in a couple of ways, but perhaps the most significant was that the race was a combined  Heritage/DRO AA/FC event with participants receiving Championship points for both series and racing under NHRA Heritage rules. There were no issues and everyone involved got along just fine. NHRA official Ken Gentry checked the cars for adherence to NHRA rules without drama, and at the end of the day the winner, runner-up, and record setting teams agreed to disassemble their fuel pumps to be checked with the DRO go-no-go gauge per DRO rules and the NHRA took the winner and runner-up pumps to be sent to KJ Crawford for flow checking and re-certification per Heritage rules. After the race, both Jason Rupert and John Hale said they had no problem doing both and, in fact, said they would prefer to have their pumps disassembled and checked at the race.

Could the new NHRA National Event at Epping, New Hampshire (long a bulwark of IHRA drag racing on the East Coast) be a replacement for the annual NHRA event at Englishtown for the East Coast drag racing community in 2014? While the Boston market isn’t as large a media market as New York City, it is still a huge market.

If E-town were to opt out of hosting an NHRA National Event, could the IHRA track insurance package be a better deal for the Napp Family? You can bet the IHRA will put a full court press on the owner/management at E-town to bring them to the IHRA, and the NHRA will work equally hard to keep the track in the fold. The IHRA Monster Jam would be a perfect fit at Englishtown, and would cost the track a lot less than an NHRA National event for Pros or Sportsman

Speaking of the IHRA, how can they not have a Nitro Jam at Rockingham Dragway? That track has a long history of successful IHRA National Events, plus it would be one of the larger venues that the IHRA/Feld Nitro Jam could visit.

The weekend of the DRO event  at Las Vegas, 22 AA/FC teams were in the pits. What is amazing is that on that same weekend, there were AA/FC match races in Yakima, WA; Springfield, MO; and Wisconsin. That would seem to indicate that, whether a racer wants to do match racing or serious racing for a Championship, there is plenty of opportunity.
