A work in progress?

I was in Saint Louis at the X-DRL event.  Oh my, I have no idea how they're going to survive. Unorganized and apparently poorly promoted. I was in the stands at 5:00 PM Friday. They had to do some clean up so I decided to estimate the crowd count. Didn't have to estimate... I could count it: 229 total fans sitting in the stands. Merchandise marts were a joke and the vendor midway had meager representation. And the Gateway track folks better start getting a handle on how to run a track operation. No directions as to where fans should park. Food prices higher than ever. Made the ADRL look like a first class operation. Had reasonably good car count, though, and entertaining racing. Although they kept rearranging the car class run order. Oh well, I'll be back in September for the NHRA. Then I only will have to worry about the Gateway amateur track management staff.

The X-DRL rented the Gateway track and brought in their own crew for the event.

Reader enjoyed the Bristol experience

The event just completed in Bristol is all the balm aging drag fans need to keep them driving to the nearest stop on the NHRA tour, presuming they are able, wallet-wise and health wise. Roger Brogdon wins his first Pro Stock race, start with that. Any fan of this racing – any Pro class you choose - understands the skill, luck, money invested and karma to win your first race. Wonderful to see Brogdon take his first Wally. No one can disagree. John Force winning on Father's Day... isn't that about as symmetrical as it can get? I mean, what famous drag racing father has done more to nurture the sport and bring his own children to the forefront than Force? No disregard to Don Schumacher, but on this Father's Day, stick a pin for home and daddy in Yorba Linda, California. And with a tip of the funny car hat to Blake Alexander going two rounds, before he lost to Father's Day Royal Jester. And I know it's only their second race as a team, but Lee Beard powers Steve Torrence to a profound Top Fuel win... think they might have some say in the championship when it all comes down in Pomona? Great weekend for drag racing on the quarter mile!

It must be harder than he thought

Whatever happened to the "Ten the Hard Way" project? It is like it just vanished.

Yeah, Mr. Nicholson, what happened?
