Well, OK, we’ll
keep on

Please don't let the criticism of the NHRA promotional department change the focus of your editorial coverage.  You have much better sources and insights that most of us who are drag racing professionals out here in the boondocks.  We count on your reportage and criticism to keep us informed.  You point us to what is important and otherwise goes unstated, unacknowledged, and unadmitted.

If the NHRA flacks are complaining, it only means to me that you are doing your job effectively.  Please don't let them throw you off the track.  Keep your eye on what WE NEED to hear, not on what THEY WANT you to say.  And just because the problems have not yet been resolved by your explication of them, don't let frustration get the better of you and silence your vital coverage.

Many of us count on you, and need you to keep at it.

Please!

Worth the changes or not?

Thank you for stating what you did about the speeds relative to 1000' vs. 1320'. When Darrell Russell was killed his speed was 326mph in a quarter-mile. They are now running consistently 330mph in 1000'. All of this under the lie of its safer and cheaper. I challenge any crew chief to release their expense records from 2008-present. I bet my life the cost have escalated substantially from when 1000' was implemented to the present day. It's all a bunch of BS. It was only cheaper until the crew chiefs earned how to run the cars harder early, which lasted about a half of a season.

Another hilarious, yet disastrous, note is that according to the "Do or Dunn" line the championship races in all categories are either over or down to two people. So where did all the excitement go? I thought points were suppose to be tighter and make things more exciting during the Countdown?

So much for that. Lastly, what "big show." I was at the last Saturday Night Nitro show in Bakersfield (same weekend as Charlotte 2). There were 16 NFC's, 6 NTF's, and 8 AA/FA's. Considering there were only 31 nitro cars on the property in Charlotte, running for all the money, fame, and a Wally, it's hard to call the "big show" a big show anymore. There were 30 nitro burning cars at SNN running for what? NOTHING! Bragging rights and a little money. So tell me again, when are we going to start calling the NHRA circus what it is... because it's not the only "big show" in drag racing. It won't last.
