March Meet at Bakersfield

Beautiful weather and capacity crowds estimated at between 36,000 to 40,000 people over three days with nearly 500 nostalgia racecars met during the weekend as the first March Meet without the Goodguys moniker was held - run directly by Blake and John Bowser.  Judging from the crowd reaction, no one could have been disappointed with the level of competition and a smoothly run racing program.

With the Bowser’s guidance Auto Club Famoso Raceway was named the most improved Division 7 racetrack at the recent awards banquet.  They’ve added concrete barriers the length of the shut down area, improved the pits and repaved the racing surface and continue on the goal of making Famoso the center for Nostalgia Racing.

Brett Harris, driver of the Harris family’s Nitro Thunder dragster out of Kaysville, Utah drove consistent 5-second ET’s to take home his first Top Fuel March Meet victory over a tire smoking Jim Murphy the at the 49th March Meet held at Auto Club Famoso Raceway. On his way to the win, Harris defeated his father, Jack Harris, during the first round of eliminations.
