Jason Scruggs bombed the MMP track record with a 3.878/188.91 blast which may have been the ugliest 3.80 pass ever made by the World’s Quickest Doorslammer Pilot. The surprisingly low speed came from a total lack of traction in the last two hundred feet and the Mississippi Stingray was anything but straight getting to that point. A later aborted pass was even wilder.

Voted Best Appearing Car, the new paint and graphics on T.J. Harrill’s previously-primered ‘57 Bel-Air wowed the crowd but problems kept “the Hulk” car from staging during timed trials.

Shannon Jenkins suffered multiple “stupid little problems” with the freshly-painted Torco N2O 118 GTO and never got to the finish line under power. However, a 3.97/185 test pass at Darlington, SC, en route to the first unblown door slammer run under 6.10 four days later while driving boss Mike Castellana’s “Raging Bull” ‘07 Mustang proved the “Iceman” has something figured out.

Steve Vick managed one decent pass, a 4.14/161 shutoff, in three hits during timed trials.
