SUPER STREET

There were 10 cars in the Super Street class and Spiro Pappas was top qualifier at 6.992/201.74. Two round wins (7.045 and 7.058) and a record-setting speed on a bye-run (7.019/207.46) put the Midwest powerhouse into the final round. His Glenview, Illinois-based ‘69 Camaro ran a 7.039/206.23 in the final, but opponent Richard Bligh turned on the red light. [See Rod Short’s profile of Pappas and his car in our Car of the Month.]

Richard Bligh’s ’04 Mustang is out of Jupiter, Florida.

Dan Millen brought his ’02 Mustang from Dearborn Heights, Michigan, and qualified in the middle of the field. He was the second racer to fall to Pappas.
