In the first round of eliminations Bucky Austin soundly defeated Mike Adams’ Corvette entry. Austin carded a 6.087 to Adams’ 6.808.
With a last minute pep talk, Ron Pruett encouraged Leah Pruett’s .035 starting line reaction time that nailed Lee Paul Jennings’ slow .328. On the top end Pruett took the holeshot win with her 6.408 to Jennings stronger 6.183.
Terry Capp got his first round win over the broken “Speed Sport” Barracuda. Capp ran a 6.115 at 240.52 MPH on his single pass. Kris Krabill also singled when Sean Dale’s Charger failed to fire.
