DRAGSTERS

FRONT-MOTORED “FLATTIES”

Robert Huberty drove this ancient 1950 model rail job powered by a carbed flathead to the Flathead Eliminator title at Cordova. In the final round he ran a 12.943/106.63 on those SKINNY tires while his opponent (below-name not available) ran a 13.265/100.83. Check out the roll cages.

TWO IN THE BACK!

Dominic Paris, driving the Paris Bros twin-engined dragster which has a limited season this year, ran a best speed of 209.36 and a  best ET of 7.095.Those aren’t the quickest and fastest numbers for the twin-Hemi by along shot as it has run some ET’s in the 6.80’s at over 214, but it was the quickest pass in a long time for the behemoth dragster.

There were six front motored “Jr Fuel” dragsters. Some were injected and some were both injected and supercharged. All had small-block Chevies between the rails. The winner of the class was Virginia racer Pat Malloy who ran a 7.319/179.85 in the final over Iowa racer Pat Sywassink’s 8.461/129.44. Malloy ran a great 7.258/181.91 which is believed to be the Jr dragster track record at Cordova.

‘SLAMMERS

THE GROCERY GETTER

We saw this car in the lanes for one of the bracket eliminator races and it did make several passes. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the speed or ET but the car was way cool and besides DRO has a weakness for four-door wagon race cars.
