With a new national record and $40,000 won in the past 3 FFW Battle of the Brands events, Grant McCrary has now established himself as the dominant car in Outlaw 10.5 racing. McCrary accomplished all this with a twin turbo 632 Ford running on alcohol.

Spiro Pappas was the only single turbo car in competition at Atlanta with a massive 114mm billet wheel. After qualifying second to last, Pappas unloaded a 4.541 at 163.79 to squeeze out a narrow victory against Bryan Markiewicz’s nitrous Camaro which ran a 4.566 at 160.71 in round one.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the weekend was the performance turned in by former NHRA Sport Compact champ Ron Lummus. With a car that was admittedly built for a slower class, Lummus ran a stout 4.520 at 166.81 in the opening round and advanced all the way to the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Grant McCrary.
