Quarter finals action was Shaffer over a red-lighting Merv Moyer, Kull with a great .007 initiated 8.860 et over Whittington, and Settles with the bye into the semis.

Semi final round it was Settles .018 at the start and 10.773 on a 10.76 dial in defeating Shaffer’s .013 start and a break-out 11.846 on an 11.85. George Kull took the bye into the finals with his Capri.

Ron Settles’ 427-powered ’67 Camaro.

In the finals, Kull went red with a -.010 but still ran 8.842 at 147.27 mph while winner Ron Settles coasted home with a 12.125 at 81.54 with an .092 light.

Larry Judd of Cumberland, MD, had his ’67 Nova set on “giant wheelie” at Beaver Springs. He put on a great show, but lost in the first round both days.
