Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association

After resetting his PB and the class alcohol marks at the preceding round, Dennis Wratten came into the Summernationals on something of a hot streak. Four passes in the sixes and a very stout 6.460/208.12 (bear in mind the restrictions in NFAA which will prevent the alky cars from running deep into the five second zone like Western Australia’s Mark Sheehan) from the Dirty Harry IV Topolino were enough to give him the event win for the second year in a row.

With The Mob team suffering a lot of problems over the weekend, it was down to Lawrie Gatehouse’s Chaos to uphold the honour of the nitro burners. When a puke tank hose got loose, the resultant film of oil around a slick gave John Wright a real handful at 900 feet and sent him weaving across the centreline. Having skittled the foam blocks, the 6.195 clocking is somewhat questionable, but the potential for 6.0s from the current Donovan centred setup is obvious.

Another resetting his PB was Nick Davies and the blown alky Chevy-powered Havoc Bantam. A 6.832/200 from the very definition of what a Nostalgia Altered should look like was a great return for the King, Loaring and Davies team. Actually the runs over the weekend pose a number of questions as time pressures from their burgeoning ICE Automotive business are restricting the opportunities to run the car, and with a Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car on the jig, Havoc may well get parked again at the end of the season (unless someone persuades them to run it on Fuel).
