ALKY FUNNY CARS
Only 14 alky funnies showed at Gainesville. As expected Frank Manzo and Midwest hitter Mick Synder were the dominant racers without the usual competition from Jay Payne. Payne did race and crash his Pro Mod but did not race his flopper.
Steve Harker calls Gainesville home these days. He qualified third and went to the finals before losing to Manzo.
Distaff racer Alexis De Joria, also from Florida, also went to the semi-finals before losing to Manzo. Harker took out Mick Snyder in the semi-finals. In the final round Manzo in a Monte Carlo strapped a 5.528/262.69 while a hapless Harker boiled the hides almost immediately.
