Stock Eliminator saw 73 contestants answer the bell for the first round with some famous Stock Eliminator hitters such as Peter Biondo and Bobby Warren qualify in the top half of the field. But by the time the fifth round was over and tire smoke cleared, the only two “hitters” left were “Dangerous” Dan Fletcher and last year’s number-three-in-the-world in Stock Eliminator, Anthony Fetch.
In a semi-finals battle royal between the two, Fletcher wasted a .002 light when he broke out turning in a 10.317 ET on a 10.32 dial. Fetch combined an 11.284 on an 11.28 dial and .014 light to advance to the final round against number-55 qualifier Scott Helms and his killer ’66 Impala Q/SA car.
The final was an epic match race between a couple of veteran racers. Helms in the left lane cut an .046 light and pushed the land barge Impala to a .012 breakout. He ran 13.348 on a 13.36 dial. Fetch had a .044 bulb and ran a 11.262 on his 11.28 which was .018 under the dial. The double breakout win went to Helms.
