Before assembly can begin, the ring and pinion are fully cleaned in a parts washer. It is important to deburr the back of the ring gear with either an 80-grit honing stone or flat file to remove any high spots or imperfections. This will ensure that the ring gear will sit flat on the differential.

Once that is done using a press to support the ring gear, the differential can be pressed into the ring gear. Install the ring gear bolts hand tight for this operation in order to maintain alignment of the differential to the ring gear.

Using the same fixture, the differential bearings are pressed on. Light oil is applied to the inside surface of the bearings to aid the installation.
