The winner of the delayed Martin Extreme Pro Stock final was John Montecalvo, who beat Jason Collins with a 4.192/164.87 to Collins’s 4.227/170.51.

“We weren’t even planning on coming out here,” said Morton (above), who hails from Jacksonville, NC. “We usually just hang out and take it easy to celebrate the Fourth of July, but my guys told me they’d come if I would, so here we are. I’m glad we came.”

The stars of ADRL Pro Junior Dragster were in the house for the finals of both the Martin and the Topeka events. And the racers who came from Michigan to finish up the Martin race ended up getting the “Minuteman” trophies for both classes. And by the way, three of the four finalists for both days were women drivers.

The upset of the event would have to have been Pro Extreme racer Steve Matusek’s daughter Kristen taking out multi-time Jr Dragster winner K.J. Nowling, son of series promoter Kenny Nowling, in the second round. Matusek went on the semi-finals where she “bulbed” against eventual runner-up Zana Hines.

One interesting note is that for the first time the class went international when Japanese racer Cole Sapp made the field. He lost in the first round.

The winner of the Martin all-girl final was number eight qualifier Samantha Cole from Cadillac, MI. In the finals she ran an 8.06 on an 8.05 dial to get the win over Texas racer Raven Dupriest, who broke out when she ran an 8.86 on her 8.88 dial.

In the Topeka final round, Trevor Wilson defeated Zana Hines using a massive holeshot (a .010 to a .137) to hold off Hines who ran a losing 7.945 on a 7.945 dial. Wilson ran 7.806 on his 7.73 dial.
