Bob Hanlon
Jason Lee

Hot Street was exciting all weekend long. In qualifying, Robbie Blankenship took the number one spot again, with an 8.69 pass. Max Gross was back with new panels after Atco’s staging lanes fire, and qualified second.

Ben Mens had been fighting the suspension, and after a late-night thrash finally got it to hook – way too hard as he pulled all four wheels off the ground. The resulting damage when he returned to earth ended his weekend.

In eliminations, Bangin’ Bob Hanlon rowed his stick car all the way to the finals where he met Gross.

However Gross got a little antsy and left a touch too soon, handing the win to Hanlon in what the numbers say would have been an extremely close race.

Drag Radial provided some serious excitement and drama throughout the weekend. As has become the norm, Jason Lee qualified with an 8.01 at 175 mph. However, the second spot was occupied by Drag Radial rookie Dave Guy. With only a handful of passes on the car, Guy coaxed the car to an 8.03 qualifying effort. From there, it was almost a two-tenths jump to the third qualifier, Ken Ewer.

However, on race day, Lee was the odds-on favorite, as Guy met the wall past half track in the end of qualifying. Lee met expectations and worked his way through the 10-car field to meet Matt Bell in the final round. Bell lit the red bulb handing the win to Lee.
