The Pacific Street Car Association Magnaflow Summernationals is always awesome, but this event set the pace for all July 4th celebrations with Craig Williams’s huge fireball (above) in the final round of Limited Street.

Randy Walker continued his new domination over the rest of the Pro Street field with a best of 6.352 at 220.94 mph with his 1974 El Camino, and Doug Sikora’s Pro Charger Mustang was the top of the 10.5 Outlaw class.

PRO STREET

Pro street qualifying was three rounds of side-by-side action worth the price of admission by itself. Leading the pack was the awesome Conquest Pontiac Firebird of the Henry Brothers out of Valencia, Calif., with Tim Henry at the controls at a super quick 6.340, 223.47 mph that also stood for Low ET of the entire event. The 2007 GTO of Clint, Jake and Jim Hairston was right there also at a fine 6.348 coupled up with an outstanding speed of 226.81 mph for Top Speed of the event.

The most improved team of lately has been Bob Griffith’s immaculate Dodge Viper, which pounded out a fine 6.430, 220.19 mph for #3. The next two were the teams of Randy Walker and Kelly Bluebaugh both with assistance of the famed Charles Carpenter and they qualified #4 and #5 at 6.460, 217.74 mph for Walkers’ El Camino and 6.693, 212.16 mph for the Magnaflow/WFO team of Kelly Bluebaugh which appeared to run a little quicker on his first two passes but Kelly did not receive times when he left a bit to early on the tree.

The reigning 2008 Champion in Pro Street, John Mihovetz, ran a 6.837, 218.80 mph, which put the bright yellow Accufab Cougar in the sixth position. Joe Alsworth’s Mesa, AZ-based ‘38 Chevy Coupe is getting a handle on PSCA Pro Street racing as he was right there with a 6.873, 203.15 mph, while Mike Maggio’s big blown KB-powered Vette was a little off pace for him at 7.032, 168.37 mph.
