Dan Stone

Dickey qualified number one with his 1968 Camaro powered by a ProCharger-assisted 521 c.i. Hemi engine. Dickey’s luck ran out in first round as he turned on the red light against Dan Stone. David Hance drove his 1957 Chevrolet around Jeffrey Long in first round, but Hance was unable to get the car turned around in time to make the second round.

Semifinal action had Stone driving a nitrous-assisted 2000 Chevrolet Camaro against Long’s 1986 Ford Mustang. Long left way early, turning on the red light, and Stone went on to make a 5.26-second run to Long’s 5.50. Long’s loss marked the last non-Chevrolet entry leaving competition.

Rister’s 2000 Corvette took on ADRL’s fastest woman, Cathy Belcher, who was driving her 1990 Camaro. Both cars struggled for enough grip to put down their 2500 horsepower but neither succeeded and Rister ran a 4.77 while Belcher ran a 5.32-second run.

Rister took on Stone in the final round in a pair of Chevrolet-bodied cars. Stone took the advantage on the starting line, but Rister quickly pursued. Rister had enough to catch and get around stone at the finish line and ran a 4.99 against Stone’s 5.15.  

Drag Radial competition was absolutely dominated by Biggs out of Millington, Ind. Biggs, who has just recently turned 18, was over six tenths of a second faster than any other car in qualifying. More impressive is the consistency in qualifying that Biggs showed with two 8.099-second runs. Biggs’ Mustang is powered by is powered by a 330 cubic inch motor that gets some extra air thanks to a turbocharger.
