Doc Halladay and
his crewchief/ tuner Jerry Newman returned to Cordova to finish up the final
round from Cordova's Nostalgiafest which was also the third race for the DRO
AA/FC Challenge. They were to race Gary Turner's California based "Pedaler" but
the car and driver Kris Krabel were unable to return and all Halladay has to
do is qualify and he will be declared the winner of that race. Halladay took
out the cones on his lap tonight and was DQ'd. He will have to get down the
track during the second and last qualifying session to both make the field
for this race and be declared the winner of the Nostalgiafest race.
Greg Jacobsmeyer and Danny Miller's Funny Car pulled in tonight but were too late to make a pass. Kevin Lennon is expected tomorrow giving us a total of eight cars in the AA/FC category.
Monticello, Illinois racer John Dunn went to the semi-finals at Eddyville Dragway last weekend at the Fuel Altered Nationals. This week he is racing as a AA/FC. Dunn told me that he is going back to his 14-71 supercharger combination next year and may not race as a Funny Car at all and only race as a Fuel Altered. It would be a real shame to lose this very popular driver.
I've been told that Doc Halladay and Jerry Newman are working on their own Series for AA/FC for 2010. Supposedly they already have someone to sponsor the series. I'm going to ask Jerry Newman about it Saturday. I doubt there are enough tracks and dates to support two Midwest F/C Series.
This Chevelle (A '65 I think) was the quickest of the 25 Super Stockers that
are on hand. This nifty AA/FX? Chevelle ran an outstanding 9.26 in the first
round of Nostalgia Super Stock Qualifying.
Qualifying for the AA/FC and Nostalgia Super Stockers will begin at around noon on Saturday. We will have more photos
