John TerHAAR of Elwood, Ill., is nearing completion on what is expected to be the world's quickest BMW-powered drag car, a '95 BMW M3. The 2,000-lb. tube-chassis car is being built by John at JT Race Cars.

Nicky Mistos of NAC Engine and Machine built the alcohol-burning S50B30 BMW "Euro" motor which incorporates a single GT 4276 Precision Turbo.

The Larry Williams-designed paint scheme was applied by DVS Motorsports paint and John Lawson's Auto Body. TerHAAR, who will also drive the car, expects initial times of 7.30 sec at 180 mph and ultimately is shooting for 6-second runs at 200 mph. Additional support comes from A-Team Speed Shop.
