If the first race of the 2010 season is any indication of what this year in PSCA competition holds, it is going to be one outstanding year! The racers and fans were blessed with very good January weather at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for this event.

Kudos to both Clint Hairston and Rick Snavely as they set record paces in Pro Street and Outlaw, respectively.

Team Hairston first set the MPH record at 233.34 then best that fine run with a speed record of 234.49 mph coupled up to an outstanding 6.237!

The Garrett Turbo/Bothwell motorsports 2005 Mustang flat crushed the Outlaw 10.5 class records at both ends. Snavely qualified #1 at a record pace of 6.649 at 215.96 mph then stepped it up a notch to 6.637/216.17 with the wheelstanding Mustang.

PRO STREET

Those guys from Bakersfield, Calif., Clint, Jake and Jim Hairston were just outstanding all weekend and started off the qualifying by laying down a fine 6.330/232.35 while Giuseppe Gentile’s 2008 Cobra Stang had his act together with a strong 6.402/224.27 for the second slot.

Big John Mihovetz made a very impressive wheels-in-the-air pass of 6.451/229.43 with his newly acquired Aeromotive 2007 Mustang.

Only in its second outing Santa Clarita’s Scott Oskas, running out of Mike’s Transmission and Bill Hickok’s racing stables, put the 2009 Mustang into the show with a career best 6.50/ 222.29. By the way, Bill Hickok is the man in Pro Street right now as he is also involved heavily with team Hairston.

Mike Maggio in his Madco Drilling Corvette followed these strong passes with a fine 6.528/217.60, but he also said to “watch out later this season I am debuting a brand new piece in the near future.”

Also making the field were Kelly Bluebaugh and tuner Debra Woodard’s WFO Monte Carlo, Perry Thyr’s Drayton Valley, BC-based Camaro, Jim Knight’s Pro Charged Vette, Street Car Super Nationals Champion Dan Vogt with his 1963 N20 Corvette all the way from Regina, SK, Canada, veteran John Scialpi’s famed ‘57, Jay Syvertson’s 1938 Chevy, and Dave Dedrickson’s 2000 Firebird.
