"All three of us got in, then won first round," Comisso said. "One of us (Troxel) made it into the finals. It's a good thing for the team; this is about the team not one individual."

Commisso got a free pass into the second round when Rowe went red by .131 seconds. Against Troxel, who was the No. 1 qualifier, Commisso got off the line first and ran a 6.008 at 241.89 mph. It wasn't a potent enough combination to beat his teammate Troxel, who crossed 5.909 seconds at 245.67 mph.

Commisso, who finished ninth in the championship points standings, had some struggles with his new Firebird but knew that is just part of the deal with a brand new car.

"We've been having some electrical issues," Commiso said, "which is one of the worst problems you can have on a racecar. The wiring problems are like little gremlins that are all over the car."

Personett’s “Big Stuff” Camaro got the semifinal win over Jay Payne.
