In the popular Mickey Thompson Super Street Ten-wide class Bill Lutz ripped off a motor-wounding 6.587.

And then there were the LSX classes where the new GM small block motor was mandatory. Seven-second passes were cheap but perhaps the most impressive pass was delivered by Texan Steven Fereday who ran a best of 7.247/205.30 -- certainly not the quickest radial tire pass ever but probably the quickest and fastest small block Chevy radial pass.

A majority of the cars were 1995 or newer with flat hoods.

Even though the 9th Annual FueLab NMCA World Street Finals was held at a different venue this year, the racing action and car counts were stellar. With Memphis Motorsports Park closed, Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis was the battleground this year, and when combined with the 4th annual GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout, it made for a tremendous event to end the 2010 season.

In Pro Street, Troy Coughlin topped the field with a 6.27, but it was Chris Rini who prevailed at Gateway. After getting past a redlighting John Sullivan, Rini put together a killer 6.16 at 234 mph to take out Coughlin, advancing him to the final to meet Tony Williams, where the Carmel, NY, racer drove his 2007 Stratus to the win with a 6.522/223.14 over the 6.812/209.656 of Williams’ Millington, NY-based ’69 Camaro. Rini set Low ET at 6.168 and Top Speed at 234.25 mph. Rini also is the 2010 Pro Street champion.
