Street Radial’s Mike Frantena was the man to beat all weekend, as he posted a string of 8.5’s to top the field and took out Brad Schehr in the second round. He got the final-round win with an 8.656/163.97 against the 9.004/154.79 for the ’62 Chevy II of Jay Canella, Bristol, WI. Fratena, Indialantic, FL, also set Low ET at 8.544 and Top Speed at 165.27 mph in his ’89 Camaro. This win was enough to make Fratena the Street Radial World Champion.  

In Pro Stock, Skip Baskin, Covington, TN, topped the field with 8.47 at 155 mph. He then went on to take out Max Gross, despite Gross’s .003 reaction time. Greg Delaney, also from Covington, met up with Baskin in the final where Delaney’s 2010 Camaro took out Baskin’s ’67 Chevy II with an 8.535/156.97 to Baskin’s 8.951/118.99. Baskin is also the 2010 Comp Cams Pro Stock World Champion.      

Mean Street drew nine cars, with Don Baskin getting the number one spot in qualifying with a 9.92 at 132 mph, but he lost to Jeremy Gillam, Schererville, IN, on a holeshot. Gillam then went on to the finals to face Alan VonAhnen driving a ’79 Mustang out of Pennsville, NJ. The two were neck and neck, but in the end Gillam’s ’91 Mustang got the win in a 9.92 to 10.01 race. This win makes Gillam the 2010 World Champ as well.        

True Street was huge at this event, drawing well over 120 cars. The overall winner was David Childress with his Trans Am, who averaged 8.95. Justin May was the 10-second winner, Gene Griffith won in the 11-second index, Michael Frumusa won the 12-second category, Mark Hinkes took the 13-second title, Karen Louge won the 14-second class, and Roger Ensley got the 15-second win.       

In Drag Radial Steven Fereday of Houston, TX, won it all and even posted a killer 7.24 at 209 mph in the semifinals. He set Low ET at 7.247 and Top Speed of 209.30 mph. In the final his ’95 Firehawk’s 7.817/179.11 got the win over the 8.256/169.15 of Mark Carlyle’s 2007 Vette out of Hillrad, Ohio. (Jeff Burk photos)

In other action, Andy Warren won at Gateway, grabbing another championship in Nostalgia Muscle Car. The Rineyville, KY, driver’s ’71 Caprice got the event win with an 11.059/118.98 run against Jacob Weigle’s ’79 Malibu Wagon from Eastview, KY.

In Nostalgia Super Stock, Donnie Wilson took out Joe Midile by running dead on his index.  Wilson, from Cave City, KY, drives a ’65 Coronet while Midile, from Medina, OH, is at the wheel of a ’64 Dodge.

In Open Comp, Donnie Bowles won, getting the 2010 championship. In Late Model EFI, Al Corda beat Edgar Perez.
