Calera, AL’s “Lil Rick” Pennington, a multi-time ORSCA champion, picked up the 7.0 win at Montgomery with his ’64 Chevelle (a former MaxChevy.com feature car, running 7.01 at 87.83 mph to the breakout 6.98 at 97.38 by Cole Cousins.   

While Anthony Rose of Cusseta, GA, was almost perfect in 6.0 qualifying, taking the top spot with a 6.001-seconds pass at 112.55 mph in his ’69 Camaro, Roanoke, AL’s Ben Blackstone was one thousandth better in 7.0, making a perfect 7.000 lap at 98.50 mph in his Mustang. The number-one start in 5.30 went to Oxford Al’s Brad Jones with a 5.303 at 132.60 in his ’79 Camaro and top qualifying honors in 4.70 belonged to David Cooper of Gulf Breeze, FL, with a 4.704 at 154.03 in his 1990 Ford Probe.
