Also winning in the Southern Outlaw Tour heads-up index classes were Evan Hall (4.70), Mike Penn (5.30), Kevin Pruett (6.0), and Rick Pennington (7.0).

Montgomery’s own Evan Hall, son of “Mr. 5-Speed” Edmund Hall, drove his dad’s 2003 Cavalier to the 4.70 index win Saturday night at Montgomery Motorsports Park. Fifth-place qualifier Hall earned the final on the tree, leaving with a .050 reaction to a .339 by Randy Griswald that allowed Hall’s 4.75 at 138.37 mph to take the title over Griswald’s 4.71 at 148.66 package.

Despite breaking out with a 5.29 at 130.05 in the 5.30 final, seventh-place qualifier Mike Penn and his ’97 Beretta from Montgomery, AL, already had the win wrapped up after Anniston, AL’s Tim Jones went red by one-hundredth of a second off the start.

Kevin Pruett and his wheel-standing Chevy II wagon took the 6.0 win home to Millbrook, AL, after running 6.004 at 116.41 in the final against Ralph, AL’s Toby Powell, who broke out with a 5.97 pass at 112.03 mph.
