Another great day of weather welcomed the first round of eliminations on Sunday when Troy Green got his first round victory against Jack Wright. Green’s 6.401 at 234.31 mph easily covered Wright’s lumbering 10.426. The second pair had Mike Adams carding a perfect .000 starting line reaction time with his off-pace 6.344 at 228.07 mph to Ed Dougan’s (.147) 6.198 at 228.54 mph, but Adams’ advantage off the line holeshot defeated “The Fighting Irish”

The other side of the eliminations ladder found a close match between Mark Sanders’ Nova and Brian Thiel’s Camaro, with Sanders on a steady 6.140 at 240.38 mph over Thiel’s 6.199 ET at 226.87 mph. The last pair was another holeshot victory when Sean Dale’s starting lane advantage (.135) 6.211 at 231.54 knocked off NHRA Big Show veteran Gary Densham’s quicker elapsed time of (.172) 6.185 at 231.42.

In Round Two, Troy Green handed the win to Mike Adams with a red light off the starting line with Adams improving to a 6.176 ET at 231.00. Mark Sanders made a single run when Sean Dale broke on the burnout, and Sanders nailed a 6.060 at 239.55 to meet Adams in the final.

Mark Sanders took home his second victory of the short year so far in his Nova funny car when he took the win light with a 6.174 at 239.29 mph over a red lighting Mike Adams who coasted through, running a 6.439. Sanders celebrated on the top end of the Famoso top end standing on his “Mr. Explosive” Nova yelling his two-in-a-row Funny Car victory to the world.
