Next came the run of the entire event with Maggio’s awesome new Camaro against Canadian Dan Vogt. Vogt left a hair quicker at the line but the Kirk Kuhns Hemi of Maggio was not to be denied with PSCA’s all time best pass ever at 6.095 at 238.72 mph. Vogt ran a 6.646/212.23 but was just no match for the new Camaro.

Kuhns said, “Yes, we made just a couple of chassis adjustments and that made the car go straight as the arrow.” Watch this one in the near future for maybe even the first 5-second pass at over 240 mph.

In a very close race Giuseppe Gentile’s little turbo Mustang won the Ford versus Chevy battle over Tony Marino’s 57 as both drivers had to lift with tractions problems, with the win light coming on for Gentile’s 6.825/232.31 to Marino’s game 7.228/205.29. Kelly Bluebaugh picked up a win in the first round at 6.771/218.05 over Perry Thor’s Camaro, which got completely out of shape and he wisely lifted.

Syvertsen got the odd lot single in round two and he elected to just cruise on through and maybe save a few parts for the next match up with his engine builder John Scialpi.

John Scialpi and his son were on a roll as they laid down another 6,541 at 215.86 mph to put the favored John Mihovetz on the trailer when he had mechanical woes and ran 7.057/224.92.

Maggio could not get the Magco Drilling Camaro to stage properly and literally gave the race to Randy Walkers RC Construction El Camino. Kelly Bluebaugh advanced to the semis when Giuseppe Gentile could not make the call.

Its been a long time since he was in the final round of Pro Street, but John Scialpi did just that when he stepped it up at the tune of 6.394, 223.76 mph to defeat his customer from the north, Jay Syvertsen, who got out of shape and clicked it early 8.368 at 113.76 mph.
