“We were off here and Dan is the cream of the crop,” Ulsch said. “You couldn’t mess with it. But we’ve got (3.80s) in us and now we have a month to find it.”
The dual-race weekend was filled with upsets, records and the unexplainable. Pro Nitrous points leader Rickie Smith did not qualify for eliminations. West Virginian Jim Laurita and his ’70 Camaro did and then went 3.94 to beat Terry Housley in the finals for his first ADRL title.

Robert Mathis upset No. 1 qualifier Pat Stoken in the first round, which was how the race went all day in Pro Nitrous, where the names of the top eight racers in points changed multiple times throughout the day.

Morgan Benfield became the first Pro Junior Dragster driver in ADRL history to win three races, as she picked up her third this year by going 8.00 in the final and moved into the top spot in the PJD points race.

The ADRL closes out the 2010 season with the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals VI, which feature the famous Speedtech “Battle For The Belts.” The top eight in each class have now been determined and they will race for the world champ title Oct. 22-23 at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX. If the weather is cool as it can be in Texas that time of year, the concrete eighth mile could deliver record performances and great racing.
