Modified eliminator was again the province of current Australian champ, Kelly Corbett. She top qualified in the field of 25 with a 7.53 from her 555 cube big block Chev powered dragster. Despite a tardy .111 light she made it past David Crossland’s dragster thanks to a 7.535 on a 7.53 dial-in while in the second round Brendan Luke’s altered red lighted  allowing her to test her dial-in running a 7.516 on a 7.52. Next time around she was to face Coral Dyer’s dragster but she didn’t make it and Corbett took a solo with another awesome time of 7.494 on a 7.49. She then received a bye into the final with a 0.006 light and a 7.490 on a 7.48 before facing Tony Littlewood’s dragster for the gold. There a 0.014 light and a 7.526 on a 7.48 were more than enough for a 0.048 and 0.038 over 8.818.
