In the finals, Troxel posted a strong 5.938/245.94 on her bye run. She now has on her resume wins in four classes: Nitro Funny Car, Top Fuel, Top Alcohol Dragster and Pro Mod.
“I don’t really focus on the female aspect of things but for me to win in four different categories in the NHRA is pretty special,” said Troxel following the win. “To be honest I don’t know if I will be running Pro Modified ….I was getting a little nervous about getting a win in before I might not run the class.
"All the normal things you do as a driver to get focused as a driver
weren't there," Troxel said of her final, single run. "All that's gone and it's kind of tough. At the same time, knowing you've won the round makes up for all of that.”
Von Smith got the first round win with a 5.920/244.38 defeat of Mike Knowles, who slowed to a 7.317/156.41. (Chris Haverly photo)
Points leader Von Smith went out in the second round and is now forced to wait until the final Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge event in Las Vegas to clinch his title.
