With Texas-size thunderstorms dancing all around, 13 Pro Mod's rolled into Texas Raceway trying to make the eight-car field. The Texas Raceway track surface was ready to give up some great numbers since the summer heat is gone but some racers underestimated how good it was and this threw them off their game.

The first round of qualifying saw a lot of tire shake and aborted runs as everyone tried to get down the track. The second round of qualifying filled the field with Gaylen Smith’s “Bounty Hunter” Cuda taking top spot, Gene Hector’s Circle H blown small block-powered Corvette, Doug Riesterer’s “Mad Scientist” nitrous Camaro, Steve Wiley’s “Texas Grimm Reaper” blown Corvette, Tim Cruce’s “Rude Stude,” David Baldwin’s nitrous Corvette, Greg Green’s black ‘57 Chevy, and Eric Clark’s ProCharger-powered Firebird.
