The Bowen family has made the switch from NHRA Alky dragster racing to AA/FC several seasons ago but this year they have really come into their own. Despite being plagued by a series of engine woes the team has managed not only to record their first five-second ET this year but run good enough to rise to second in the points and contend for the National Championship. Driver Shawn Bowen and tuner Mike have shown that they are a real threat and could get their first win at the National Finals. (Don Eckert photo)

Todd Lesenko from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and tuner John Wurtz have raced Lesenko’s ’77 Camaro mostly on the West Coast and have a best ET of 6.015 at 241. This will be their first race with the DRO/Lucas Oil Series. (Darr Hawthorne photo)

Doc Halladay and tuner Jerry Newman have been racing together for nearly three decades and are the only team that have actually raced at Kansas City in a AA/FC when KCIR was sanctioned by the AHRA. In their day they were certified NHRA and IHRA “hitters” in the AA/FC ranks .Doc and Jerry have made it to the finals of a DRO Series race but have yet to get a win and they have yet to make a five-second pass in the DRO Series.  (Don Eckert photo)
