MUSTANG MADNESS

Daniel Marciano was also the top qualifier in Mustang Madness with a .001 RT, which carried into the finals too as he defeated Dan Hale who got two runner ups at this event. A 10.603 @ 116.00 mph was good for the victory for Dan, while Hale ran close at 10.828 @ 126.42 mph.

TROPHY CLASS

Two more locals made it to the final in Trophy, as Carl Gagnon’s 98 Mustang paired off with Sal Cachia’s ‘55 Chevy. A 12.13 @ 102.26 mph gave the win to Carl Gagnon of over Sal’s 12.113 @ 108.67 mph. Carl Gagon was also the quickest qualifier with an ET of 12.363.

BRACKET #1

Our first place qualifier in Bracket #1 was Broc Broaddus of the Broaddus racing family with a 14.182. But in the final, it was Dave Wallis and his ‘68 ‘Cuda narrowly defeating the likeable Joe Niswsmonger and his ‘Part Time Mistress’ Chevelle. Times for both were 9.914 @ 137.04 mph for Wallis, while sentimental favorite Joe Niswonger ran a fine 9.022 @ 147.60 mph.

OPEN COMP

Once again the largest field in the show, Open Comp was dominated by local talent with Las Vegas’ Ty Ishibashi with his ‘67 Camaro and Andy Pressimone’s ‘76 Chevy Nova in the Open Comp final. Ishibashi’s bright yellow Camaro took home the trophy with a time of 10.485 @ 112.05 mph over the Nova’s at 11.151 @ 116.33 mph. Steve Pramov was the numero uno in OC with a perfect 0.000 during qualifying.

ETC

The Lucas Oil car show put on by that company and Donnie Chavez had some outstanding entries, especially the silver ‘55 Chevy, while a couple of high dollar imports also caught car enthusiasts’ eyes. Wheelstands were the name of the day with Eric Aldridge’s wild red Maverick, Joe Keurjikian’s Cuda,  and Terry Barkley’s Nova all going sky high at the Strip!

Next stop is Firebird Raceway in Phoenix next month!
