Morrison wins on double breakout race

SUPER ROD

Jason McCandless (right) drove his ‘O2 Corvette convertible to the 9.90 Index Super Rod Class win.

He qualified number one and dominated the 25-car field. McCandless’s ‘Vette performed superbly and he ran a string of ETs between 9.93 and 9.90 including a 9.900 in a semi-final win.

McCandless beat the Dodge Dakota truck driven by another Florida racer John Taylor in the final round. Taylor ran 9.923/161.05 but McCandless easily covered the truck racer with a winning 9.913/158.56.
