Each day is its own event too. There are junior dragsters for the kids while, for the adults, classes start at Sportsman and go all the way to Super Pro. Winners in each class are crowned daily. On Friday and Saturday, there’s a special Top Sportsman and Top Dragster race sponsored by Lucas Oil, where the fastest eight cars in each class run off for some very nice money and merchandise.

But it’s after the racing has concluded for the day that the social activities begin in earnest.

Every day there are special things going on. For example, one night it’s soup for all, then chili night the next.  And if you were smart enough to purchase one of the very nice souvenir shirts of the Halloween classic, you got your soup or chili for free. Bonus! (Note: There was a dramatic increase in performances the day after the chili feed; not sure if there was a correlation to that or not.)

Back on the ground, the wheelstanding contest always packs the grandstands, and the Firebird Air Show this year was no exception.
