The Outlaw 8.5 Champion was Southern Californian Eric Gustafson who cut a great .023 starting line reaction time to a .342 RT for Manuel Figueroa’s ’95 Mustang.  Their 1/8 mile times were 5.382 for Gustafson to a quicker 5.52 for the runner-up Mustang.

“El General” driver Jose Gonzalez, driving a twin-turbocharged 450 cubic-inch Chevy-powered ’06 GTO, qualified  third with a 5.950 at 254.76 mph, and nitrous veteran Shannon Jenkins was in with a 5.960/235.34.

Pennsylvanian Michael DeMayo in his ‘95 Mustang won the Hot Street class, the Wild Street winner was Jeff Kyle driving his ’00 Mustang and Street Challenge winner Rich Hatch took home the trophy in his ’91 Mustang.

Randy Walker and his new nitrous-fed ’74 El Camino only had four passes on it, but he managed to qualify eighteenth running 6.145 ET at 229.00.  While still sorting out new car bugs, Walker had an uncharacteristic first round loss to Randy Alder’s Hemi-powered ’57 Chevy.

Teammates all year, Clint Hairston and the family GTO met Troy Coughlin’s ’68 Camaro in round two of Pro Street eliminations, with both cars tuned by Jake Hairston.  Coughlin’s red light start gave the victory to the Pontiac,  powered by a twin turbo 397 cubic-inch Chevy.  Hairston went out in the semi’s to event runner-up Mike Maggio.

A first round mishap in Extreme Drag Radial put John Wall and his turbocharged ’92 Mustang into the left side guardwall ending the day for the Southern California racer, who narrowly missed Dana Cook’s Mustang in the other lane.

Open Comp Champion Ron DeHoop in his Lucas Oil-backed ’67 Chevelle put another trophy on the mantle winning the final round over Doug Carter’s ’69 Camaro.

Missing the Pro Street cut was Mitch Chamberlin from Washington State with his unique, blown ’51 Chevy running a 7.289 in his primered supercharged Deluxe coupe.

Pennsylvania’s Michael DeMayo (far lane) took the Hot Street trophy over Kentucky’s Don Bowles in the Hot Street Final.  DeMayo’s 8.116 ET defeated Bowles who ran 8.148 ET.

It was Hank Oliver’s ’64 Nova over Jay Schmidt’s classic purple ’32 Ford Sedan in Double Index.

Canadian Jim Low (near lane) took the victory over Johnny Calert’s ’64 Fairlane in the final of Bracket 1.

The Spectacular MAV-TV Lucas Oil jets closed out the show under the lights when racing was complete.
